Hackers Steven Levy I've read this great book several times. It follows closely the beginning of computers and programming from 1959 at MIT through personal computers of the 70's & early 80's.
Debt of Honor Tom Clancy Personally I think this is his best book and one of the few that has not been made into a movie. Probably because there is so many different plot lines that go on simultaneously converging to a huge ending that it would be impossible go do it all in a 2 hour movie.
